MY JOURNALISM EXPERIENCE
Working in broadcasting was an incredible launching path for my career journey. You are forced to develop creativity in execution, fact-checking prowess, and relentless drive to execute ideas. You are also thrust into a variety of situations where you may have to cover any topic ranging from politics to science and meet people ranging from world leaders to families in need. Everyday was a learning experience and a chance to challenge myself – all while sharing the power of stories with others. It has been an incredible foundation for the rest of my career. I've been able to cover a wide range of stories including:
COMMUNITY JOURNALISM
Sharing information to help residents and families across the Southeast U.S.
BREAKING WEATHER EVENTS
From the 2011 Tuscaloosa Alabama tornado to Hurricanes Ike, Gustav, and Isaac.
NATIONAL SPORTS COVERAGE
Super Bowl XLIV & 2010 BCS National Championship
OTHER STORIES AND EVENTS I REPORTED:
LOCAL, STATE, AND NATIONAL POLITICAL CAMPAIGNS
Including the 2008 Presidential Elections, the 2010 Statewide Alabama elections, and multiple gubernatorial and senatorial campaigns.
2010 DEEPWATER HORIZON OIL SPILL
The largest marine oil spill in history. Covered stories from Louisiana to Florida
2008-2012 AIR FORCE REFUELING TANKER CONTRACT
The government's $100-billion decision to award a lucrative defense contract to Airbus/EADS, one the the largest military expenditures in history.
